Islamic Devlopment Bank offers to organize investment conference to rescue Sri Lanka from economic crisis

JEDDAH: Jeddah-based Islamic Development Bank has offered to coordinate with the government of Sri Lanka to organize an Investment Conference to unlock alternative finance to help Sri Lanka.

This was revealed at a discussion held on Tuesday, Jan 25.between Foreign Minister Ali Sabry and Dr. Zamir Iqbal, Vice President of Islamic Development Bank .

Sri Lankan ambassador in Riyadh,Pakeer Mohideen Amza who was present at the discussions told Colombo Times that this is good news for our country.” Our foreign minister’s talks with the IsDB officials were highly productive since it could attract investments from the rich Islamic countries.

Currently,Sabry is in Saudi Arabia on an invitation from his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal Bin Farhan and the two ministers are slated to meet on Thursday in Riyadh for a detailed discussion.

The minister had already met Madinah Governor Prince Faisal Bin Salman, OIC Secretary General Ambassador Hissein Brahim Taha. He is expected to meet the GCC Secretary General and the chairman of Saudi Fund For Development in Riyadh on Thursday, Jan.26
