COLOMBO: Iranian Tourism Agencies and Air Transport Association Executive Vice President Dr. Mortenza Shabani visited Sri Lanka on the initiative of Sri Lanka Ambassador in Iran N.M. Shaheed.
During the visit, the delegation was welcomed by the President of Chamber of Tourism Industry A.M. Jaufer and Tourism Promotion Bureau officially at the Airport.
Buddhika Hewawasam Chairman Sri Lanka Tourism Authority and Tourism Promotion Bureau met the delegation Friday Dec.6 . Discussions took place to promote Tourism between Iran and Sri Lanka. During the meeting Dr. Mortenza Shabani Vice President of Iranian Travel Agencies said : “ We are looking Sri Lanka as a New Tourism Destination we are ready to promote Sri Lanka as a new destination for Iranian Tourist.”
They invited chairman Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion bureau to Participate in Trade Fair in February 2025. During the discussion, the President Chamber of Tourism Industry requested the delegation to hold the Iranian Travel Agency Annual Conference in Sri Lanka.
Mrs. Malkanthi Welilaka Manager Marketing of Sri Lanka Convention Bureau also participated in the discussions.
Dr. Mortenza Shabani indicated that Sri Lanka is the best Holiday destination for the Iranian Tourist. “ We are ready to work with Sri Lanka Tourism to Promote Iranian Tourist to Sri Lanka.”
They also met Financial Ministry Secretary and Treasury Secretary Mr. Mahinda Siriwardana regarding to know the current situation of the Country. The delegation also met Mrs. Renuka Weerakoon Director General of Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI) regarding the investment opportunities and potential investment areas. Prasanjith Wijayathilake Executive Director investment Promotion was also present during these discussions..
