COLOMBO: IPL 2021 Season resumes with the 30th match of the season scheduled to be played between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Dubai International Stadium on 19th September (Sunday).

Earlier this year, in May, the IPL 2021 was suspended because of the COVID-19 second wave in India after 29 matches were played. At the end of 29 matches, Delhi Capital was at top of the points table with 12 points, closely followed by CSK and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) with 10 points each.

The final is scheduled for the 15th of October 2021 in Dubai.

All matches will be played in venues in U.A.E (Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah).

In this second phase of IPL 2021, Sri Lankan players Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera will play for RCB. In the first phase of the IPL 2021, no Sri Lankan players were chosen by any of the franchises which was a first in the history of IPL. However, Sri Lanka had representation of Mahela Jayawardena, Kumar Sangakkara and Muttiah Muralitharan in administrative and coaching roles.

The RCB Captain Virat Kohli expects the Sri Lankan 2 players to shine and was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo that “Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera are two guys who have played so much cricket for Sri Lanka and they understand how to play on pitches like these and their skillsets will be of huge help for us, playing in Dubai, understanding how hot and humid conditions can be and how the pitches will play out, they know everything”.

RCB will be playing Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Monday September,20
