COLOMBO : The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) announced here on Wednesday that flight arrivals will be suspended from 11.59 pm on May 21, to 11.59 pm on May 31.
Chairman of the CAASL Upul Dharmadasa said in a press release that the decision has been taken in view of the existing coronavirus situation in Sri Lanka. However,he added passengers will be permitted to embark from Sri Lanka during this period
The press release further added: “ This is to inform all online and offline carriers that all international Airports in Sri Lanka will not permit disembarking passengers into Sri Lanka with effect from 2359hrs on 21 May 2021 (local time in Sri Lanka) until 2359hrs on 31 May 2021 (local time in Sri Lanka) with a view to control the Covid 19 situation in the Country.
During the above mentioned restricted period the following will be permitted:
1. Aircraft Departures with passengers originating from BIA/MRIA.
2. Aircraft Emergency Diversions to BIA/MRIA
3. Freighter Operations and humanitarian flights to BIA/MRIA
4. Technical landings at BIA/MRIA.
5. Inbound ferry flights (without passengers) at BIA/MRIA.
6. Passengers transiting at BIA/RIA for less than a tours with a confirmed ticket destined to an onward destination.
Airlines have been strictly instructed to follow the above instructions.”
