Indonesian Students Gain Insights into Sri Lankan Culture and Heritage

JAKARTA : Forty-six (46) students from  Menengah Atas (SMA) school of Negeri 61 Jakarta undertook a study tour to the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta on 13 March 2024. The visit took place as part of their civics education curriculum for the semester II of the academic year 2023/2024. This education tour aimed to deepen the students’ understanding on Sri Lanka’s diplomatic ties, education system, socio-economic landscape, and rich cultural heritage.

During the interaction with the students, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Indonesia and ASEAN Admiral Prof. Jayanath Colombage made a comprehensive presentation on various aspects of Sri Lanka. Second Secretary (Commercial) of the Embassy A.M. Heshani Kaushalya, provided an overview of the Embassy’s history and functions.

The students showed their interest in visiting Sri Lanka and in the prospect of studying at Sri Lankan universities in the future. This educational endeavor exemplifies the bridge-building efforts of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta in collaboration with the Indonesian and Sri Lankan institutions in the education sector, fostering mutual understanding among youth.
