India wins a thriller, Sri Lanka falls short of 2 runs

MUMBAI : India won by two runs in the first of the three match T20i Series at the Wankhede Stadium short while ago after restricting Sri Lanka to 160 runs in 20 overs while chasing Indias target of 162.

India batting first set a target of 162 for 5 wickets in 20 overs. Deepak Hooda top scored with an unbeaten 41 runs while opener Ishan Kishan scored 37 runs.

Chasing the Indian score captain Dasun Shanaka hit a brilliant 45 runs off 27 balls. Chamika Karunarathne batted brilliantly at the end to take Sri Lanka closer to the total, but Sri Lanka fell short by 3 runs.  Shivam Mavi picked up 4 wickets for 22 runs.

The second T20I will be played on Thursday in Pune. (RZ)
