India beats Sri Lanka by 91 runs leading to series victory in Rajkot

RAJKOT: It rained sixers in Rajkot with Suryakumar Yadav (popularly known as SKY) hitting 9 of it to race to the second fastest century by an Indian Batsman (in 45 balls).

Suryakumar Yadav’s splendid innings of 112 unbeaten allowed India to post a massive 228 for 5 wickets in 20 overs. Sri Lankan bowlers were mere spectators today as Yadav smashed 9 sixers and 7 boundaries. Shubman Gill hit 46 off 36 balls including 3 sixers and 2 boundaries and supporter Yadav in a thrilling partnership of 111 runs.

India were at one stage 52 for 2 wickets in the 6th over. Madushanka picked up 2 wickets for 55 runs. Sri Lankan skipper who bowled the last over of the previous match and picked up 2 wickets did not opt to bowl in this decider match for much of the astonishment of the Sri Lankan fans.

Sri Lanka’s chase was more a struggle after the opening partnership of 44 runs between Nissanka and Kusal Mendis. Wickets falling at regular intervals saw Sri Lanka from 84 for 4 wickets in the 10th over  falling to 135 for 9 wickets in the 17th over. The last nail on the coffin was the Skipper Shanaka falling for Arshdeep Singh for just 23 runs.

Sri Lanka was bundled out for 137 runs in the 17th over allowing India to win by a massive 91 runs margin. Arshdeep Singh picked up 3 wickets for 20 runs. Being the second win in the three match series , India win the T20 i series against Sri Lanka. (RZ) Image credit cric info & BCCI
