COLOMBO – Indian High Commissioner Santhosh Jha hosted an Iftar dinner at the Galle Face Hotel in Colombo on Saturday March 30 .
Foreign minister Ali Sabry was the Chief Guest at the event attended by Judicial Fraternity, MPs, members of diplomatic corps, business and media amongst others.
In his brief address,Minister Sabry thanked India for its support during the economic crisis. The iftar organized by the Indian high commission demonstrates its commitment to strengthen people to people contacts between the two countries. He also pointed out that India is one of the fastest growing economies in the G20 and its prosperity could be benefitted by Sri Lanka too with closer bilateral ties. He said that a good number of Indian investors have shown. Interest in various projects in Sri Lanka and “ We welcome them for mutual benefits,”
Jha in his welcome address said that Sri Lanka has been a trusted partner and reliable friend and it hopes to strengthen the existing ties to greater heights for the benefit of the two countries.
Describing Ramadan as a blessed holy month Jha said its a month which advocates peace, harmony , charity, love ,humility and gratitude.
