COLOMBO: Colombo High Court also ordered three MPs Mohamed Muzammil, Nimal Piyatissa and Gamini Waleboda who filed the case against Former Governor Azath Salley who was acquitted on Thursday,December 2.
The judge has asked them to appear in courts on February 21 on a request made by President Counsel Maithri Gunaratna who appeared for the accused.
He told court that malicious and baseless complaint by the three MPs has caused distress to his client and compensation is due as per the provisions in the Code of Criminal Procedure
Former Governor Azath Salley was released and acquitted from all charges by the Colombo High Court on Thursday (2).
Salley was arrested for allegedly making a controversial statement at a media briefing on the 9th of March 2021.
