COLOMBO- Sri Lanka Muslim Congress Leader and former minister Rauf Hakeem said that he would personally take up the petition against the 20th Amendment bill at the Supreme Court.
The former minister was speaking to the press on Monday about the petition he would be filing with the Supreme Court against the proposed amendment to the constitution.
He said that the public feels that the new amendment would reduce the balance of power by not maintaining the separation of powers. The absence of balance of power among the judiciary, legislature and the executive will erode democracy, the former minister added.
Answering a question, he said, voting for or against the proposed bill is a matter which will be decided by the party.” Currently, we are discussing about it,” he added.
