Gulf Team becomes champions of the Diplomatic Cricket Tournament

COLOMBO — The Diplomatic Cricket Committee organized its fourth year softball five over-Diplomatic Cricket Tournament among the Diplomatic Missions and UN Agencies Members was held at the Chandra Silva Playgrounds, Rajagiriya Saturday December 10. 

It was held under the patronage of Project Chairman M.S.M. Shiraj from South Africa Embassy with the members of the organizing committee.

There were 12 teams  International Organization of Migrate (IOM), Asian 1, United States, British Council, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, India, ICRC , Australia, Gulf, European, India 2 and Asian 2 . 

In the final Gulf Team defeated US team and captain of the Gulf Team Saman Pushpakumara received champion trophy with Rs 50,000 cash prize from chief guest South Africa High Commissioner S. E. Schalk,

Man of the Final US Embassy Asanka Priyankara received gift voucher from Ms. Sherooza Sabry from Villa 400 , Best Bowler Gulf Team Mohamed Azeem received award from Tower Hall Member of the Board of Directors Hassim Omar, Best Batsman award received Gulf Team Dennis Kleyn from Deputy High Commissioner of Nepal Biswash Bahatta, third place Europe Team captain Senaka Bandara received award from UAE Ambassador Khalid Nasser Al Amari, Runners up US team Captain Malith Ekanayake received trophy and 25,000 cash prize from South Africa Deputy High Commissioner Rene Everson Varney at this tournament ,

Individual awards were presented by main sponsor of the tournament Classic Travels Director  Sabry Bahaudeen.
