COLOMBO : Ayubowan, Vanakkam, Annyonghasimnikka (Korean Greetings)
I am the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Sri Lanka, Santhush Woonjin JEONG.
As the year 2022 draws to a close, I want to thank all friends of Korea in Sri Lanka for the love and support extended to strengthen our Korea-Sri Lanka friendship. This year marked the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Korea and Sri Lanka, and my Embassy organised numerous cultural, educational and celebratory activities on the occasion of this meaningful anniversary. As the Korean Ambassador, I take this opportunity to emphasize that the noteworthy accomplishments we have achieved together in nearly half a century are underpinned by the enduring encouragement and support shown by our Sri Lankan friends. My heartfelt gratitude goes to all of you who contributed to strengthening our ties in every little way.
In 2023, I look forward to extending cooperation in a future-oriented way between the two countries, opening a new chapter of elevated bilateral relations for the next 45 years. In the upcoming year, like my Sri Lankan name “Santhush” which means happiness, Korea would like to share happiness with Sri Lanka and Sri Lankan people. I reiterate my sincere willingness to do my best to upgrade our bilateral relationship. As our diplomatic relations come into the New Year, I believe that we should overcome shared challenges and take our bilateral friendship to greater heights.
Once again, I would like to wish all my friends a joyous, healthy, peaceful and prosperous New Year!
Thank you. Isthuthi. Nandri. Gamsahamnida! (Korean thankfulness)
