COLOMBO : R. Demet Şekercioğlu, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye hosted a grand reception to mark the 99th Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of Türkiye, at the Galle Face Hotel on Friday,Oct,28,on the eve of the national event.
Environment minister Naseer Ahamed was the Chief Guest for the occasion, while the minister of education Susil Premjayantha was the guest-of-honour of the event.
The reception was well attended by members of the diplomatic community, parliamentarians including the foreign minister Ali Sabry, senior government officials and people from all walks of life.
The two ministers and the host made speeches to highlight the significance of the day, while the Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene joined the three officials to cut the cake for the event.(Pix by Ashraff Samad)
