COLOMBO : The Annual General Meeting of the Gampola Zahira College Union was held on Sunday, 03 March at the Hotel Mandarina at 5.30 p.m. followed by Dinner.
LThe meeting was well represented with an unprecedented large gathering of members.
The meeting was called to order by the president and commenced with the recital of Quir’at and the rendition of the College Hymn by all present.
The president in his address mentioned the achievements of the Union in helping the College attain greater heights in education, sports and infrastructure. This was made possible by the dedication and contributions of the members of the Union.
The main event on the agenda was the election of office bearers for the ensuing year. The following members were re-elected to their respective posts. Patrons – Haja Hussain, M. Ziauddin and Rizmy Reyal. Chairman – Akram Mukthar. President – Ameer Ahmed, Secretary – M.R. Hameed, Treasurer – Feroze Abdeen, Committee – Roomy Rahim, Mufthy Hashim, Hider Ali, Rishard Sadikeen, Asad Ali, Irfan Rauff, Niyaz Yusoof, Rushdi Ahmed, M.C.M. Muneer, Zaneera Meelaud Keeran, Farhana Naushad, Haleema Razick, Kairoon Nissa Huzair, Habeebur Rahman, Roshan Rahuman, M. Zahir, Hilru Siddique, Mohamed Insaf, Risvi Majeed, Farzana Irfan and M. Najibulla.
The following members were elected to the committee anew. Dr. Sirajunissa Zanhar, Arooze Khalid, Faiza Majeed, M.H.M. Niyas, Ismeth Majeed and M. Zuhri. The meeting concluded at 8.05 p.m. followed by dinner.
