COLOMBO::Former Western Province Governor Azath Salley appeared before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday (17) and submitted a complaint that Thilini Priyamali had allegedly defrauded him of Rs.80.5 million.
He stated before the Criminal Investigation Department that he got to know her through a manager of a mixed investment project conducted by an Indian company in this country and it was she who encouraged him to give money to Thilini. He has said that the business manager told him that Thilini has enough money, gold, gems and land and believing her, he gave Rs.80.5 million to Thilini Priyamali.
He has complained to the Criminal Investigation Department that the money from the sale of land was given to Thilini and that even a monk from a temple in Kadawatha, acted as a middleman in this transaction.CDN
