COLOMBO : Former Western Province Governor and Leader of the National Unity Alliance,NUA, Azath Salley who had been under detention order has been formally moved to remand custody on Tuesday, August 17.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Ananda Sri Ragalla who visited Salley at the National Hospital on Tuesday, remanded him till August 31. On seeing Salley’s medical condition, the magistrate said that the suspect could continue his in-house treatment at the government hospital and he can be brought back to the prisons on discharge from the health facility.
The team of lawyers who appeared for Salley included N.M.Shaheed, Ruzni Mohammed and Namal Rajapaksa,
