FIFA World Cup :  Spain sweeps Costa Rica with 7 goals to nil , La Roja hit seven as Gavi becomes their youngest World Cup scorer

DOHA: Spain have had mixed results in the recent World Cup. In 2018, Spain lost to hosts Russia in the round of 16 and failed to advance past the group stage in 2014. This year’s squad is full of young talents. Former Spain national team coach Luis Enrique believes his team has what it takes to bring Spain back to the World Cup.

As Spain turns the screw, the atmosphere inside the Al Thumama stadium is somewhat subdued amid Spain’s outright domination of Costa Rica on the pitch. SPAIN UP 4-0 OVER COSTA RICA. It’s been a non-contest from minute one and while the Spaniards’ efforts have been cheered by their smattering of fans, Costa Ricans and the neutrals appear to be dazed by the proceedings.

Dani Olmo got La Roja, scoring their 100th World Cup goal after 11 minutes, while Marco Asensio doubled their lead 10 minutes later. Ferran Torres scored either side of halftime, once from the penalty spot and once from open play, before Gavi netted the pick of the goals and became Spain’s youngest World Cup goalscorer in the process with his outstanding performance.
