FIFA World Cup 2022: Brazil defeats Switzerland by 1 goal to nil. Tite’s men book Round of 16 spot with Casemiro’s stunning volley

DOHA : Five-time champions Brazil outclassed Switzerland 1-0 in its second Group G match at the FIFA World Cup 2022. Riding on Casemiro’s late goal, Brazil have joined France in the last 16 with a win over Switzerland at the Stadium 974 in Doha.

Five-time champions Brazil were dealt a massive blow going into its second Group G fixture as the Selecao named a Neymar-less side for their second group game against Switzerland on Monday. After playing a goalless first half at Stadium 974, Tite’s men lifted late as Manchester United star Casemiro scored a stunning volley to give Selecao a 1-0 win over Switzerland. With the thrilling win over Switzerland in the low-scoring encounter, the record-time champions have joined France in the last 16 of the Qatar World Cup. The Brazilian side has also become the second team to not face a single shot on target in their first two matches in a single edition of the FIFA World Cup. The same feat earlier was achieved by defending champions France in the 1998 edition of the showpiece event.Hindustan Times
