Environment minister discusses arrangements on COP meeting with Egyptian ambassador

COLOMBO: Environment Minister Hafiz Naseer Ahamed accepted the invitation of Ambassador of Egypt,Maged Mosleh and had a fruitful discussion at Ambassador’s Residence Saturday morning on Sept,24.
Talks were focused on the forthcoming 27th Session of the Conference of Parties to the UNFCCC (COP27) scheduled to be held in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt from 7 – 18 November .


Sri Lanka’s commitment to combating adverse impacts of climate change Including Sri Lanka’s roadmap to implement the commitments identified under the updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) of Sri Lanka submitted last year. Further, the collaboration of other government and private partners to achieve Sri Lanka’s commitment in a short and long term were also discussed. Secretary to the Ministry of Environment Dr. Anil Jasinghe, High Commissioner of the UK in Colombo Sarah Hulton, Ms Hanaa Singer Hamdy, UN Resident Coordinator,Prof Saj U Mendis, Addl Sec, MFA and Rifa Wadood were also present at this meeting.
