COLOMBO – Dr. M.M. Mohamed Rushanudeen was elected Executive Chairman (Chairperson of the Executive Committee) and a member of Board of Directors (National Executive Committee) of the United Nations Association of Sri Lanka (UNASL) for 2024/2025.
The 74th Annual General Meeting of the United Nations Association of Sri Lanka (UNASL) for 2024/2025 was at the UNASL National Secretariat in Panadura on Sunday March 31.
The organisation, affiliated to the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) 100 Member Countries has been recognized by the Foreign Ministry and UN Sri Lanka.
Rushanudeen is the youngest lifetime patron since 1995 and Life member of UNASL since 1990, who has held a number of key positions in the association for over 40 years as a Volunteer and Honorary Capacity Since from 1985 as Student Schools and up to date
He became the executive committee member of the association in 1992 and held a number of positions including Executive Committee Member, Assistant .Secretary-General, Vice Chairman and Senior Deputy Executive Chairman before becoming Executive Chairman, the post he held since 2018.
He has represented Sri Lanka at a number of international fora and has played a pivotal role in promoting the aims and objectives of United Nations at National and International levels organizing many sustainable development Goals Projects and social welfare initiatives through UNA SRI LANKA and WFUNA.
