COLOMBO : The management of the Dewatagaha Mosque has sent its greetings and good wishes to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa for forming the new government based on a landslide victory at the recent polls held early this month.
Reyyaz Salley, Chairman of the Dewatagaha Masjid, said in a letter addressed to the premier, said :
“ We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to you on being appointed as the Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. “
He pointed out that the election results spoke out loud on the trust that the Citizens of Sri-Lanka have on you and the government. As the former President of the Country and the Leader of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, SLPP, we believe that your efforts and commitment to serve the country regardless of race, color or religion are the significant reasons behind this overwhelming victory.
“ On behalf of the Dewatagaha Masjid which makes a major contribution in fostering interfaith and intercultural understanding and takes initiatives in the spirit of friendship between all communities, we would like to invite you to our masjid to receive the blessings, and meet with its diverse Muslim congregation on a date and time convenient for you.”
“ We wish you, Honorable Sir, and, His Excellency President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, all success in leading our beautiful island nation towards development and prosperity while preserving peace and harmony,” he concluded.
