Details of the visit of Iranian president to Colombo will be announced this week: foreign ministry oficial

COLOMBO : The exact date of the arrival of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in Colombo will be announced this week.

According to foreign ministry sources, the Iranian president will not be coming to Colombo on April 24 as reported in a section of the local media.

Tehran Times reported on Tuesday that the president is due in Colombo in May.

Several major water and energy projects are going to be inaugurated by the president of Iran and Sri Lanka during this visit.

The Uma Oya Multipurpose project which includes two dams namely Dyraaba and Puhulpola The project also includes two major hydroelectric power plants each with a capacity of 60 megawatts.

Uma Oya multipurpose project is regarded as one of the greatest technical and engineering service projects of Iranian companies in Sri Lanka.
