CRICKET: Bangladesh Victory Day Trophy goes to Al-Humaisara National School

COLOMBO : Supported by the Bangladesh High Commission in Colombo, the ‘Victory Cup’ hard ball cricket match was held on Thursday,Feb,23, between Al-Humaisara National School, Beruwala & Bandaranayake Maha Vidiyalaya, Payagala to mark the Victory Day of Bangladesh.

Held at the Surrey Village Cricket Stadium in Kalutara in association with the Sri Lanka Youth Parliament, a large crowd of the two school students, teachers, parents and local sports enthusiasts watched the day-long match.

The High Commissioner of Bangladesh Tareq Md Ariful Islam presented trophies to the winnerd of the match Al-Humaisara N. S. Cricket Team and runner up shield to Bandaranayake M. V. Cricket Team.

 Principals of the two schools Mohamed Risky and Ms. K.P Dayani, Deputy Minister of External Affairs of Sri Lanka Youth Parliament Ahmath Sadique as well as coach, school alumni, Provincial and District coaches and local dignitaries graced the occasion.

In his remarks, the High Commissioner highlighted the many commonalities between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and emphasized on the spirit of sports in further enhancing the ties between the peoples of the two countries.
