Dear Esteemed Friends and Citizens of Sri Lanka,
On this auspicious occasion of Sri Lanka’s 76th Independence Day, celebrated on the 4th of February, 2024, I, on behalf of the High Commission of Malaysia in Sri Lanka, extend our heartfelt congratulations and warmest wishes to the people of Sri Lanka. As we commemorate this significant day, we celebrate the journey of sovereignty, unity, and progress that Sri Lanka has embarked upon since gaining independence.
The spirit of resilience, strength, and the rich cultural heritage that the Sri Lankan people embody is truly admirable. Your nation’s accomplishments in fostering economic growth, social integration, and cultural vibrancy reflect the indomitable will and determination of the Sri Lankan people.
It is pertinent to highlight the concept of ‘Malaysia Madani’ – a vision championed by Malaysia to foster a society that is progressive, prosperous, and holds strong to ethical values. This vision underscores the importance of inclusivity, sustainability, and innovation as pillars for national development. As we extend our congratulations to Sri Lanka, we also envision strengthening the ties between our two nations through shared values and aspirations, including those encapsulated in the Malaysia Madani vision.
The bond between Malaysia and Sri Lanka is built on a foundation of mutual respect, shared values, and deep-rooted historical and economic connections. On this joyous day, we reaffirm our commitment to nurturing this relationship, exploring new avenues for cooperation, and working together towards achieving mutual prosperity and well-being for our peoples.
May the year ahead bring Sri Lanka continued peace, prosperity, and happiness. Let us look forward to a future where our nations work collaboratively towards shared goals, fostering a world that is more inclusive, sustainable, and resilient.
Once again, congratulations on your 76th Independence Day. May this day be a reminder of the strength and unity that defines Sri Lanka, and may our friendship continue to flourish in the years to come.
With highest regards,
BADLI HISHAM ADAM
High Commissioner of Malaysia to Sri Lanka
