Committee formed to revive All-Ceylon Muslim Education Conference

NEGOMBO: A committee has been formed recently to revive the defunct All-Ceylon Muslim Education Conference which was set up by former Zahira College Principal Shafie Marikar in 1964.

 The new action committee comprises Attorney At Law  Rashid M Imtiaz, Vice President Senior Journalist N. M. Ameen,  M. I. S. Hamid, K. M. A. Hassan, M. A. M Nusky, A. Abu Ubaydah and M. H. M. Hasan and Retired Principal M. M. .M Rilwan as chairman of this committee.

The committee has been set up with the aim of electing new administrators among outstanding people in academic,social services and community-related fields of interests.

The first meeting of the committee  will be held after the month of  Ramadan and those  Interested have been invited to join the meeting after contacting the coordinator  Rilwan via phone or WhatsApp, phone number is 0778787172.

The Sri Lankan Muslim Education Conference was started in 1964 to discuss the educational problems of Sri Lankan Muslims at the government level and to find solutions. Many developments in Muslim education were carried out during under the leadership of  Late Shafie Marikar. Subsequently, after the death of Professor Husain Ismail and departure of Professor  M. S. M Anas from the island for higher studies, the activities of the conference came to a standstill.
