Colombo Times takes a break to host the Sri Lankan ambassador designate to Oman

COLOMBO: Colombo Times Chief Editor and Correspondent for Arab News in Colombo, Mohammed Rasooldeen hosted a reception to Ambassador designate Sabarullah Khan, additional secretary to the foreign ministry in Colombo at the Mandarina Hotel in the presence of a distinguished gathering on Wednesday,Sept. 14  

The programme well-compered by Hasan Shazuli started with the opening address by Rasooldeen who said the reception was being given to Khan in appreciation of his services to the country and its people.

The speech followed by  a presentation of a memento by Rasooldeen and draping of a golden shawl on Khan by Tower Hall Foundation Director Hassim Omar.

Bangladesh Ambassador Tarek Ariful Islam said that Khan was one of the finest diplomats whom he met at the UN Office in New York.

On his part, Khan pledged to work for the country as a career diplomat to keep Sri Lanka flag flying in any part of the globe.

Diplomats who were present included, Woonjing Jeong – Ambassador of Korea,Tariq Ariful Islam – High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Sri Lanka, Dr. Zuhair Hamdallah Zaid – Ambassador of Palestine, Büyükelçi R. Demet Şekercioğlu – Ambassador of Turkey to Sri Lanka

Douglas Sonnek – US Embassy’s Deputy Chief of Mission

Ms Bhanu Prakash – Counsellor at the Indian High Commission, Rauf Rizwan – First Secretary at the Pakistani High Commission.R. Khan from Pakistani High Commission.

Also present were Director of Islamic Religious and Cultural Affairs Ibrahim Sahib Ansar, former Lankan ambassadors to Oman and Turkiye AmeeerAjwad and Rizvi Hassan respectively.The other attendees included director general of communications at the foreign ministry, Sithara Khan, Managing Director Mandarina Hotel, Mizver Mackeen and Managing Director Traveller Global Rizmy Reyal.
