Cinnamon’s “Grand” Christmas cake mixing sparks the start of festivities

Cinnamon Grand hotel, Colombo, being the flagship hotel of Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts was flying their flag high, hot on the heels of their hospitality chain having won some prestigious awards overseas.

This saw the management and staff already in a jubilant mood and fully prepared for the joy of the ceremonial Christmas cake mixing event last Tuesday (18th October) which all the Cinnamon hotels do with aplomb in general and at the Cinnamon Grand hotel in particular.

The hotel’s Lobby was the chosen location for the age-old tradition. Fully attired in Scottish kilt, plaid and feather bonnet, the bagpipers led the procession of the culinary staff with dozens of trolleys and trays of Christmas cake ingredients and the wide array of liquors that were to be poured into the mixing. 

The atmosphere and the ritual appeared to have sparked the commencement of the festivities and had those witnessing the event, the hotel guests passing through included, to enjoy the happy moments happening at the very centre of the hotel

With canopies and wine to savour, the hour long ritual had the lobby abuzz, with laughter and chatter about the festive events to come.

The PR and Marketing team appear to have much up their sleeves on the festive events as they were on a tease, about the surprises that are in store. Although unwilling to divulge too early, a bird whispered that as per past performance the line-up is expected to thrill patronizes. Renowned personalities aligned with the hospitality trade are anticipated to mingle at the seasonal events. That would give an extra special international flavor to the Cinnamon’s already striking concoctions.

There’s no doubt that Cinnamon Grand is dedicated to constantly come up with novel ideas and events to ensure they provide what the city folks love to participate and indulge in, in the spirit of the season.
