Chandana De Silva, Emirates Airline’s Area Manager for Sri Lanka & Maldives inducted at the Sri Lanka Aviation Hall of Fame 2023

COLOMBO:  Chandana De Silva, Emirates Airline’s Area Manager for Sri Lanka & Maldives received the unique honor of being inducted into the Sri Lanka Aviation Hall of Fame 2023 at the IAAC Graduation 2023, held at the BMICH on  January 10.

 De Silva was inducted into the Hall of fame in recognition of his unique and truly remarkable contribution to the aviation industry in Sri Lanka. An alumnus of St. Peter’s College Colombo, born on 02nd July 1956, De Silva’s indomitable spirit and unwavering drive has made an indelible mark on Sri Lanka’s aviation industry.

 De Silva has made an indelible impression on Sri Lanka’s aviation field since he first started working in the industry almost four decades ago.

From Joining Sri Lankan Airlines as a Manager, his tenure saw him rise to the position of Head of Corporate Communications of Sri Lankan Airlines.

Amongst his numerous achievements in the Aviation industry, De Silva was instrumental in the opening of Emirates First branch office in Kandy. Further, under De Silva’s stewardship, the Emirates Sri Lanka station won the Outstanding Achievements Award in the Passenger category, and the Best GSA Award from Emirates SkyCargo

A truly remarkable personality, and a man of many passions and interests, one of the most fascinating aspects of this unique gentleman has been his penchant for accumulating unique skills and hobbies, such as Rally driver, holder of a private pilot license, Golfer, Gardner, Passionate singer, and Versatile actor.

A Peterite, who lived up to the very spirit of the college ethos, De Silva, has not only made an impression on the Aviation industry of Sri Lanka, He is also a true legend of the industry, and inspiration to all, including his beloved wife Indunil, and his daughter Traja.
