Maligawatte Masjids’ Federation hosted an Awards Ceremony on Saturday,November 11 to felicitate the winners of the Inter Madhrasa Competition at an event, held at Pradeepa Hall,
Maligawatte, was a celebration of knowledge, dedication, and Islamic learning. The venue was packed to capacity.
Breaking away from tradition, the organizers decided to depart from the conventional plaques and memorabilia presentation, opting instead to reward the winners with a more practical and impactful gesture. In a noteworthy move, the winners were awarded handsome cash vouchers.
The President of the Maligawatte Masjids’ Federation, Moulavi AshShaikh Shiyam Azar, addressed the audience, expressing his gratitude for the overwhelming participation and emphasizing the importance of fostering a love for Islamic education among the youth.
Vice President of the Maligawatte Jumma Mosque, Al Haj A H M Maheer, who was the chief guest at the event, set the tone for the evening by delivering a profound address on the virtues of Islamic studies and emphasized the importance of parents’ responsibility in shaping the character and values in a child.
The Guests of Honor, Al Haj M Razni and Al Haj Shiraz Noordeen, also shared their insights on the virtues of Islamic studies. They spoke passionately about the moral compass that Islamic education provides.
It was heartening to witness 132 students leaving the ceremony with smiles of accomplishment with their jingling pockets and also with a sense of pride and validation for their perseverance.
One of the Special Invitees to this event was parliamentarian A H M Fowzie together with Maligawatte Jumma Mosque Trustee Al Haj. M. Azar, Masjidus Salam Jumma Mosque Trustee Al Haj. Jaufer Jamaldeen, Masjids Federation Secretary M.T.M. Illyas, Treasurer Farhath Siddeek, Vice President M.Z.M. Yaseer and members, Trustees of the Mosque, parents and students were also present.
