Buddhist clergy, FUTA and several other launch massive protests urging premier and president to resign

COLOMBO: A series of protests were launched in various parts of the capital of Colombo urging the government to step down due to the deteriorating situation of the country.

Members of the Maha Sangha were engaged in a massive protest in Pettah, Colombo.
The Buddhist monks called for the resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Meanwhile, the Federation of University Teachers Association (FUTA) mobilized a cycle procession from Nugeogoda towards Colombo Fort.

The cycle parade was staged called for the establishment of an all-party government to resolve the current issues in the country.

FUTA commenced the cycle parade from close to the Nugegoda flyover and ended it near the Public Library in Colombo, where a public gathering was held thereafter.They are scheduled to stage a protest near Colombo University on Friday July 8
