Bodybuilding champion Supun de Silva gets international award

COLOMBO: It is special that a Sri Lankan youth took part in the Victorian Muscle and Model Championship in the ICN bodybuilding competition in the state of Victoria, Australia and took the second and third places in those two categories. The sacrifices he made for that are immeasurable. His name is bodybuilding champion Supun de Silva.

How are you working these days to prepare for the upcoming tournaments?

Not only did I win the competitions I participated in the past few days, but it was a good experience for me for the upcoming competitions. When I participated in those competitions, my weight was about sixty one kilograms. In order to prepare my muscles to be a challenge for the upcoming matches, I need to increase my weight to seventy kilograms. So I hope to correct the shortcomings and move forward.

If it is mentioned about the period to participate in the next tournament…

Hope to participate in the ICN Summer Tournament in March 2023…The journey is difficult but I hope to make an effort to reach the Olympia tournament to bring glory to my native land.

Within two years from the year 2020, you reduced your weight by thirty seven kilograms. Let’s talk a little about that.

Until 2020, my weight was ninety eight kilograms.
I never cared about my health or the appearance of my body.
One day when I was spending time on the phone, I thought that I should change my body in a very energetic way due to an article that caught my eye.
Accordingly, from 2020 I joined teamnwstart
As per their instructions, I had to control my food intake and get used to a healthy diet.
Even though we got food three times a day, it was a special task to take it to a certain measure.8 liters of water should have been drunk a day. It was a big challenge in the beginning, but it had to be done in order for my body to change and overcome the challenge I was looking forward to.In the beginning it became a big challenge, but I was able to experience the results of my hard work and dedication day by day. I was surprised and happy to see my body’s healthiness and physical change day by day. I was able to reduce my weight from 98 kg to 61 kg.

You plan to participate in a tournament in the year 2023, but you change the plan. In the year 2022, you will participate in your first tournament ..What is the reason for that?

I planned to participate in a tournament in 2023 with my overweight body, but due to sacrifices, I will be able to change my body in a way that is suitable to face a competition by this year. Accordingly, I will participate in the 2022 ICN tournament to gain experience in a competition.

If you remember the evaluations you have received so far

This year, I participated in the ICN competition held in Ballarat for the first time on September 25th and won two second places in both men’s physical fitness divisions of the Southern Cross championship. It was by accident that I participated in the Victoria ICN bodybuilding competition on October 1st and I was able to win.

Say something about your coaches who were behind you

Maintaining physical fitness My exercise coach is Gayan Perera. Without his guidance I would not have achieved these achievements. Manoj Mukunda trained how to face a competition to get the stage in a competition and he should also remember this time.

Say something about your brother Sujeewa de Silva, a former Test cricketer who represented the national team, and you might have tried to follow in his footsteps..

My brother represented the national team from 2002 to 2007…..He is a person who has made countless commitments for the sport. I learned from him that dedication is not impossible for those who have determination and self-confidence.

How long will it take to bring a victory to Sri Lanka?

After a year, I will bring a bodybuilding championship to the motherland, he concluded .
