Asylum Seekers Centre in Melbourne celebrates 25th

MELBOURNE :  Asylum Seekers Centre in South East Melbourne celebrated it’s 25 Years continued services recently.

The Volunteers organised a low profile celebration on 1st March 2022 with few invitees amongst them was Federal Member of Parliament for Bruce Julian Hill and Thay Horn Yim  Director Yim Migration services.

The ASC founder/ coordinator David Spitteler along with his wife Yvonne Spitteler, started serving the Asylum Seekers with free food items including dry rations, free op shop and other household goods including computers and laptops. These assistance were great beneficial to those who comes seeking asylum in Australia.  So far they have distributed Australian $7.79 million in total material aid including $ 435,605 cash gift vouchers.

The great efforts by Spitteler and his wife in finding funds and other resources is really appreciative.

Mr Spitteler wishes to thank all the individuals/ organisations/ churches and well-wishers who were supporting his organisation to continue this long journey and he hoped and prayed that he will get this continued assistance in the future too.

Most of the Asylum Seekers are multicultural and also from Srilanka. Sylvester Sosai a volunteer who’s in charge of the food section is from Srilanka along with Jiffry Haniffa who can speak seven languages assisting David to continue his services to the most needy Asylum Seekers.
