ARANAYAKE :Mrs. Shireen Farhana of Mawanella, who started her career as an English trained teacher has got the distinction of becoming the first lady principal of Arafa Primary School of Dippitiya, in the Aranayake electorate 10 miles away from Mawanella.
A product of Baptist Missionary School, presently known as the Sri Sangamittha Balika Vidyalaya of Matale has been working as the Sectional Head and the Deputy Principal of Dippitiya M.M.V. for a long time which is adjacent to Arafa Primary School. She successfully got through the competitive SLPS examination to get herself elevated to this reputed position. The strong appeal of the school community at Dippitiya encouraged to take over the school as per the government instructions on 4th March 2024.
Shireen was given a rousing welcome at the duty assuming ceremony which was held amidst a large gathering.
In her address she underlined the important roles of the three stake holders, the parents, teachers and the students to produce a productive younger generation through this institution. The former principal of the school, Anas, the Imam of the Wilpola Jummah Masjid, Moulavi Mujahid, Senior ISA, Mrs. Mufeedha, the Secretary of the SDS etc. A large number parents and well wishers were present at the event.
