Ambassador Ameer Ajwad briefs CEO of Madayn on Investment Opportunities in Sri Lanka

MUSCAT : Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Oman Ameer Ajwad met with Hilal Hamad Al Hassani, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates – Madayn and the Chairman of Shumookh Investment and Services of the Sultanate of Oman and briefed on the investment opportunities in Sri Lanka.

Ambassador Ameer Ajwad apprised CEO Hilal Al Hassani of the emerging investment opportunities in Sri Lanka in five priority areas which include manufacturing, ICT, Tourism, Agriculture/Food Processing, Construction and infrastructure. He also highlighted meaningful tax concessions and incentives introduced by recently passed budget 2021, to foreign investors across sectors and investment sizes, while also emphasizing a commitment to simplify regulations and improve investor protections.

Welcoming the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Madayn Headquarters in Muscat, CEO Al Hassani highlighted the achievements of Madayn and expressed keen interest in exploring targeted investment opportunities in Sri Lanka. He also stated that Shumookh Investment and Services, which is the investment arm of Madayn, has expressed interest for the investment in the area of renewable energy in Sri Lanka.

Ambassador Ameer Ajwad and CEO Hilal Al Hassani agreed to continue to engage and establish direct links between Madayn and the investment authorities in Sri Lanka with a view to exploring potential investment opportunities and synergies in different sectors for the mutual benefits of both countries.

CEO Hilal Hamad Al Hassani received “Personality of the Year Award for Industrial Investment” in 2019 by the Arab Economic Unity Council of the Arab League in the Excellence Awards for Economic and Social Initiatives in the Arab Region.

The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (EIE) – Madayn was established by a Royal Decree in 1993 and it is functioning under the jurisdiction of the Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Sultanate of Oman. Madayn manages and operates eight industrial cities in Sur, Suhar, Raysut, Nizwa, Buraimi, Rusayl, Samail, Ibri in addition to Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM) and Al Mazunah Free Zone in the Sultanate of Oman. Madayn recently launched its Vision 2040 which is derived from the national priorities and goals of Oman Vision 2040.
