Akram Foundation holds New Year celebrations

COLOMBO – The Akram Foundation, Vanitha Saviya Foundation and Colombo Youth Club jointly organized Sinhala and Tamil New Year Celebration at Hyde Park, Colombo on Sunday May 5.

It was held under the patronage of President of the Akram Foundation and former  Western Provincial Councilor Mohamed Akram.

Former Finance Minister and Colombo North United National Party organizer Ravi Karunanayake was present as chief guest.

Ravi Karunanayake pointed out that people in  Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia live in peace without any race. It is an example to be emulated said Karunanayake.” Let’s get together and develop our country.”  and requested all the Sri Lankans come forward to work for the country and live in peace and harmony among Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims, Malays and Burgher communities in this country. He said we need unity among all communities for peaceful living .

 Sack Race, Tug War, Lemon and Spoon, Best Laugh, Best Cry and many other events were held and a large number Staff and family members of the foundation took part in the events.

Former MMC A.R.M. Shafwan, Ravi Karunanayakes Coordinating Secretary Kamil Hassan, and members of the Akram Foundation were also present.
