COLOMBO : UNP MP Ranjan Ramanayake was arrested by Police for possessing a pistol without a valid license.
Parliamentarians are entitled to possess a pistol for their self defense. However, the pistol owned by Ramanayaka was not renewed for more than two years .
The search operations were carried out by the police around 3 pm on Saturday on a warrant issued by the Nugeogoda Magistrate
During the search operations , Ramanayaka, anticipating an arrest , said that in case of an arrest , he would not go to the hospital and he is brave enough to stay in the demand prisons till justice is meted out.
