COLOMBO : The last rites of an Assistant Lecturer who was working in the Department of International Relations of the University of Colombo, who was killed in a tragic accident in Colombo, were held on Wednesday,Feb 21
The remains were taken for burial from Wickramasinghepura, Battaramulla for burial at Thalawathugoda Public Cemetery.
24-year-old Lakmini Bogamuwa, an assistant lecturer at the Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo,was the victim of the accident.
According to the police, the deceased had gone to the other side of the road near the pedestrian crossing to go to work from Wickramasingapura, when she was hit by a lorry.
It is reported that he was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital and died after receiving treatment.
In 2017, she was selected as the best student by receiving two medals and scholarships at the graduation ceremony held at the University of Colombo.
It is also reported that she studied at Colombo Ananda Balika Vidyalaya and Colombo Visakha Vidyalaya and was selected for Colombo University and showed special talents.
