NEGOMBO : The supermarket complex in Negombo town was temporarily closed from morning on Sunday following the detection of two Covid patients within the facility.
The shut down order was given by the Negombo Public Health Inspectors Department, whose officials who arrived at the scene on Sunday morning following the diagnosis of a clothing store owner and his wife, who run the shop within the complex.
“ That is why they have taken steps to close all the shops in the supermarket. There are over a hundred shops here,” a Public Health Inspector told Colombo Times on Sunday.
Colombo Times learned that the businessman and his wife had gone for wedding in Divulapitiya area, where the cluster of more than 2,000 patients were discovered.
Public health inspectors have advised those who work in shops there to be self-quarantined in their respective homes.
“It is their responsibility to follow the procedure announced by the health department in view of the seriousness of the corona infection in the country,: the PHI said .
