WC T20I SUPER12:  India tops in points with a massive win against Zimbabwe – reserves semi final encounter with England on Thursday

MELBOURNE: India won against Zimbabwe by 71 runs short while ago in the last of the Super 12 league matches to top the Group 2 points table and reserve an encounter with England at the Semi Finals on Thursday, 10 November.

Earlier today Pakistan beat Bangladesh by 5 wickets to enter the Semi Finals and will meet the table toppers of Group 1 , New Zealand on Wednesday for the first semi-final scheduled at the SCG, Sydney.

India set a target of 186 for 5 wickets in 20 overs. Suryakumar Yadav blistered through to an unbeaten 61 runs off 25 balls  while Rahul hit 51 off 35 balls to allow India to post a winning score. Zimbabwe wanting a win to automatically qualify for the T20 World Cup in 2024 had a daunting task of chasing a massive score against a pumped up Indian team. Sikkander Raza gave his best and contributed to 34 runs off 24 balls however it was not enough to get close to the target. Zimbabwe were restricted to 115 off 20 overs and India sealed a victory by  71 runs. Ashwin picked up 3 for 22 runs and picked up the best bowling figures for India.

Group 2 rankings final rankings see India at the top with 8 points while Pakistan are at second place with 6 points. South Africa are the 3rd position with 5 points, after losing to Netherlands earlier today.
