COLOMBO : The newly elected National President of the All-Ceylon YMMA Conference Ihsaan Ahmed Hameed said here on Friday, November 4 that he will be committed to working for peaceful coexistence among all communities in Sri Lanka.
Hameed was unanimously elected National President of the All-Ceylon YMMA Conference at its 72nd Annual Convention held recently at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute under the chairmanship of outgoing president Shaheed M Rizmi, where the US Ambassador was the Chief Guest ,while the president of the Sri Lanka Bar Association President Saliya Peiris was the Guest-of-Honour.
Hameed was speaking to Colombo Times about his future vision as the national president of the Conference which has more than 150 branches throughout the length and breadth of the island.
“ My policy is ‘Charity for all with malice towards none’,which would guide us to live in unity peacefully as children of Motherlanka,” Hameed said.
He said he will focus on socio-economic problems of the community and explore how an association such as the YMMA could continue its services to the people to ease their present problems
He also said that he intends to work with the media closely to disseminate correct information to the public about the role service-oriented organizations such as the YMMA which is dedicated to service the youths of this country,
He said he would also harness the advice and expertise of the past office-bearers of the organization to forge ahead.
Hameed has been a member President of the Badulla Ymma where he had risen from the ranks after serving as Secretary and Treasurer. When he was the president in 2015,the Badulla YMMA was adjudged at All Island level in 2015.
He was also the Assistant Treasurer of Dharmadutha College OBA/Treasurer of Dharmadutha College Old Boys Football Association and he was also the President of Board of Trustees at Masjidul Abraar (Hairaath)Badulupitiya Badulla and also Vice president of Janaza Welfare Association Badulupitiya and served as Treasurer of Baithuz Zakath Badulla
