16 schools to take part in Zahira College Rugby Tournament which commences on March 2 in Colombo

COLOMBO – The Tournament Draw, Jersey Launch and Trophy Unveiling were held at the Zahira College Colombo Gaffoor Hall in connection with the Zahira College Rugby 100th Centenary Celebration on Thursday February 22. It was held under the patronage of Principal of the College Trizviiy Marikar.

Zahira College holds the distinction of being among the initial four schools in the island to introduce rugby. This year marks a significant milestone as they commemorate 100 years of rugby. In honour of this centennial celebration, Zahira College will host an Invitational Rugby 7’s Tournament at the Race Course International Stadium on March 2nd and 3rd, 2024. The tournament will feature the participation of 16 schools.

The tournament will embrace the thrilling 7s format, celebrated for its fast-paced action and excitement in rugby. It also provides schoolboys with a valuable chance to compete on such a prestigious stage

Below are the 16 Participating Schools –

Zahira College Colombo, Royal College,  St. Peters College, Trinity College , Wesley College, Isipathana College,  Kingswood College,  Dharmaraja College , Sri Sumangala College,  St. Aloysius’ College, St. Thomas’ College, St. Joseph’s College, Mahanama College,  D.,S.,Senanayake College, Maliyadeva College, and  Lumbini College.


The esteemed event is proudly sponsored by Diamond Milk , Moose Clothing, Ride Energy Drink, DASA Group, GNZ BIO SCIENCE, and Sling Mobility. Additionally the tournament is being conducted in collaboration with ASIA RUGBY, Sri Lanka Rugby, and the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA).

Few Millions of cash prizes for the winners across different categories. The Player of the Series will be presented with an electric bike courtesy of Sling Mobility.

Historical Cash prize announced by Diamond Milk empowering Rs.2.5 Million in cash for Winners of several categories.
