COLOMBO : The 13th Mullaiwaikal Day commemoration took place in all parts of the island on Wednesday May 18.
In Kalmunai ,it was held at the the Sri Sithi Vinayagar Temple, old Kalmunai Road, Kallady, Batticaloa, yesterday (18).
Hindu and Catholic priests were present and conducted prayers for peace and for the people who had lost their lives. Floral tributes were offered and oil lamps were lit. The commemorative event was presided over by Senior Vice President of Illankai Tamil Arasuk Kadchi (ITAK) Pon Selvaraja. Batticaloa Mayor Thiyagaraja Saravanapavan, Deputy Mayor K. Sathiyaseelan, Former Parliamentarians S. Yogesweran, G. Srinesan and P. Ariyanenthiran, former Eastern Provincial Councillors Prasanna Indrakumar and M. Nadaraja, Municipal Councillors and other local government officials were present.
