COLOMBO : Ten Special Task Force (STF) personnel are reported to have contracted the COVID-19 virus.
Reportedly, they had recently visited the Peliyagoda Fish Market where a COVID-19 outbreak was detected.
They had been identified as infected while undergoing quarantine at quarantine centers.
The 10 officers reportedly serve attached to the Kelaniya, Kalubowila, and Rajagiriya camps of the STF.
All personnel at the camps have been directed for PCR testing.
Casualties at Lady Ridgeway Hospital
Seven children and three mothers have tested positive for at Covid-19 at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children in Borella.
They are all contacts from the Peliyagoda Fish Market Covid-19 cluster, according to the Director of the Hospital Dr. G. Wijesuriya.
Last week it was reported that a 2-year-old child and her mother who had visited the Lady Ridgeway Hospital had tested positive for the virus.
The father of the child, who is from Wellampitiya, had also tested positive for novel coronavirus.
Parliament opens on Wednesday
The Parliament of Sri Lanka will remain closed for business today (October 26) and tomorrow (October 27), Chief of Staff and Deputy Secretary-General of Parliament Neil Iddawala announced.
As the Parliament premises will be disinfected during these two days, all staff have been instructed not to report for duty.
While operations will resume from Wednesday (October 28), the staff needs to report for duty only if informed by the relevant department heads, Iddawala added.
A Sub-Inspector of the Parliamentary Special Intelligence Unit was recently reported to have contacted COVID-19. His contacts have been directed for PCR testing.
